Check Your Dial-Up Connection Speed

To find out your dial-up connection speed, follow the simple instructions below for your operating system.

Windows Vista

While connected, click on the Start menu and select Control Panel->Network and Sharing Center. Click Properties for your connection.

Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98 or 95

While connected, you should see a small icon of two blinking computers on the right side of the taskbar. Hover your mouse over that icon and your connection speed should be displayed.

Mac OS X

While connected, go to Macintosh HD->Applications->Internet Connect. Click on Internet Modem and Macintosh HD>Applications>Internet Connect. Click on Internal Modem to determine connection speed.

Mac OS 9.x

While connected, go to Apple Menu->Remote Access Status. You should see "Connected at" followed by your connection speed.
